How a work retainer works.

We've kept it simple and completely upfront: you book the hours, we do the work, and the savings follow. Here's everything worth knowing.

01

Book your monthly hours

Agree a set number of hours each month at an agreed rate — and they're yours to use however your website needs them.

02

Pay a discounted rate

Every retainer hour is charged below our usual hourly rate — an immediate saving on the work you were going to need anyway.

03

Book more, pay less

Larger retainers unlock an even lower hourly rate, so your budget stretches further the more you commit.

04

Unused hours roll over

An agreed percentage of any hours you don't use rolls over into the following month, so nothing goes to waste.

05

No surprise overtime

If a month calls for more than your booked hours, we'll always discuss it with you before any extra work begins — and those additional hours stay at your same discounted rate.

06

A simple minimum term

Retainers run on a three-month minimum contract, giving you consistent support and consistent savings.

Ideal for regular website updates.

Your changes, handled properly and promptly — without you ever touching the back end.

If you're looking for regular content updates to your website but would rather leave it to the professionals, a retainer — often set up as an Amendments Plan — is a perfect fit.

Each hourly plan is offered at a reduced hourly rate to our business standard. It's your website, expertly maintained — with every update handled by the team who knows it best.

What your hours can cover —
and what they can't.

Your hours are yours to spend however your website needs them. To keep everything clear, a retainer is for hands-on website work — here's exactly where it begins and ends.

A work retainer can include:

  • Changes to text and images.
  • New page developments.
  • Design tweaks, or newly designed elements within a page.
  • Changes to the setup and configuration of your website.
  • Page re-designs and re-developments.

A work retainer does not include:

  • SEO work.
  • Google Ads.
  • Content writing.
  • Graphic design.

Good news, though — these are all things we can help with separately. Whether it's SEO and ad campaigns, professional copywriting or brand and print design, just ask and we'll put together the right service alongside your retainer. Explore our full range of services →

Why choose a retainer?

Predictable costs

A set monthly investment agreed upfront, so you can budget with confidence — no surprises, and no re-scoping every job from scratch.

Real savings

Every hour is charged below our standard rate — and the bigger the retainer, the bigger the discount.

Questions,
answered.

Straight answers to the things we're asked most about retainers. Anything else — just ask.

  • How many hours should I book?

It depends on how regularly your website changes — and that's exactly what we'll help you work out. Tell us what a typical month looks like and we'll recommend an honest number, never more than you need. You can adjust it as your business changes.

  • What can I use my hours for?

Any hands-on website work: text and image changes, new pages, design tweaks and newly designed elements, configuration changes, and page re-designs and re-developments. Your hours are yours — you set the priorities each month.

  • What happens to hours I don't use?

An agreed percentage rolls over into the following month, so nothing goes to waste. Quieter months simply build a little extra headroom for busier ones.

  • What if I need more than my booked hours?

We'll always discuss it with you before any extra work begins — no surprise overtime — and any additional hours stay at your same discounted rate.

  • Is a retainer the same as a maintenance plan?

No — they do different jobs. A maintenance plan keeps your website's software updated, secure and bug-free behind the scenes. A retainer is for visible work: changes, new pages and improvements. They work beautifully together, and many clients hold both.

  • Am I locked into a long contract?

No — retainers run on a simple three-month minimum term, with your hours and rate agreed upfront. After that, it continues for as long as it keeps earning its place.

  • We just needed people to find us and see we're the real thing. I kept going quiet mid-project — busy season — and David chased me, kindly. The site went live on the date he'd promised, and new enquiries mention it straight away.

  • Honestly, my goal was not getting fined — vape rules change constantly. David walked me through the age-check side in plain words, and Toby made the shop look proper. When I email, an actual person replies — usually the same day.

    Callum

    Owner, The Cloud Room
  • I was running bookings out of spreadsheets and losing my evenings to it. David sat with me for an hour before we talked websites at all. Now members book and pay themselves, and I've got my Tuesdays back.

    James

    Founder, Harbour Training Group
  • Our old site embarrassed us in pitches — that was the push. David asked good questions, about the films rather than fonts, then mostly let the work breathe. Two producers have brought the site up themselves, which never used to happen.

    Marcus

    Director, Lantern Films
  • Our members needed one place we could point people to without apologising for it. David listened more than he talked and kept every date he set — nothing felt rushed. New clients now open with ‘I found you through the website’.
